TRATAMIENTO DEL PÁNICO MEDIANTE EXPOSICIÓN INTEROCEPTIVA Y EJERCICIO FÍSICO. EXPOSICIÓN A TRAVÉS DE UN CASO

Resumen

El trastorno de pánico conlleva un alto sufrimiento y deterioro en la vida del que lo padece. Los tratamientos eficaces para el trastorno de pánico tradicionalmente incluyen alguna forma de exposición a los síntomas temidos, reestructuración cognitiva y estrategias de disminución de la activación. En los últimos años está habiendo un creciente interés en el estudio y tratamiento de factores de vulnerabilidad para el pánico como es la sensibilidad a la ansiedad que se entiende como el miedo a los propios síntomas de la ansiedad. La exposición interoceptiva se ha consolidado como una pieza clave en aquellos tratamientos que tengan como objetivo disminuir la sensibilidad a la ansiedad y consecuentemente el pánico así como los efectos deteriorantes del mismo en la vida de los pacientes. Pese a los datos de la literatura, este tipo de tratamiento no es frecuentemente utilizado por los terapeutas.

En el presente artículo se expone el tratamiento llevado a cabo en un sujeto con diagnóstico de trastorno de pánico a través de exposición interoceptiva y ejercicio físico entendido como una forma de exposición. No se empleó en ningún momento técnicas de reestructuración ni de disminución de la activación. Los resultados muestran un claro descenso, entre otros, de la frecuencia e intensidad de las crisis de pánico, el nivel de sensibilidad a la ansiedad, en la interferencia del trastorno en la vida del sujeto, y en general, se consigue una normalización de los diferentes ámbitos de la vida de nuestro paciente.
